Hola, I'm Leonor Clavijo, and I'm thrilled to share my journey as a consultant dedicated to guiding investors in discovering the perfect franchises in the United States. My mission extends to assisting existing businesses in becoming franchises while strategically targeting the vibrant Latino market.
After almost five years of shepherding businesses through the intricacies of starting up in the United States, I decided to venture beyond my comfort zone in 2020 and embrace the entrepreneurial journey as a franchisee.
Teaming up with my friend from Colombia, Marco Guevara, we assumed the role of Managing Partners at Corporate Cleaning in Raleigh. This endeavor meant more to us than just a business opportunity; it was a chance to make a meaningful impact and inspire others to enter the world of franchising.
The connection between Marco and me runs deep, extending beyond business into personal relationships. Marco is married to Andrea Franco, my classmate from a Catholic school in Colombia. The foundation of our successful business partnership was built on the bonds of friendship and shared experiences.
Fueled by a desire to better guide our clients, my journey into the franchise world took a significant turn when a friend from the USA, Rachel David, Principal Accountant and Owner at Sevrina Tax & Business Services, Inc, expressed interest in joining forces. Rachel became a partner after hearing about my commitment to helping friends launch their businesses.
Rachel and I attended Discovery Day, where we had the opportunity to meet everyone at Corporate Cleaning. Once we became franchisees, Marco came to the United States, and during the first week, we flew to Michigan for an intensive training course to learn how to run the business.
As we navigated the ups and downs of running Corporate Cleaning in Raleigh, North Carolina, we underwent a metamorphosis with unwavering support. In this dynamic partnership, Marco orchestrated operations, Rachel became our accountant, handling payroll and taxes, ensuring the financial heartbeat of Corporate Cleaning remains strong, while I assumed the vanguard in sales.
Mentorship flowed from John Lechtenberg, the Area Manager at Corporate Cleaning, while founders and CEOs Len Yakuber and Devin Dollar provided the encouragement that fueled our ascent in the fiercely competitive cleaning industry.
My dedication to the franchise industry transcends consultation; it encompasses fortifying existing businesses on their journey to franchise status, all while strategically targeting the burgeoning Latino market.
Armed with expertise in international business, licensing, and franchising, backed by a Master's Degree in Humanities and International Development from Duke University, my journey brings a wealth of knowledge to the forefront. A guiding light for those seeking opportunities in the dynamic world of franchising, particularly within the Latino community.
Marco's Visa E2 Odyssey: A Triumph in Immigration Chronicles
In the intricate tapestry of our franchise narrative, Marco's Visa E2 journey became a pivotal chapter. The Visa E2, known as the Treaty Investor Visa, became Marco's gateway not only to actively manage Corporate Cleaning in Raleigh but also to immerse himself in the vibrant American culture and business milieu.
The Visa E2 application involved demonstrating a substantial investment in the business and its potential to generate employment opportunities, contributing to the U.S. economy. A key criterion was Marco's Colombian origin, which aligned with the treaty of commerce and navigation between the United States and Colombia.
Beyond legalities, the Visa E2 metamorphosed into a conduit for Marco to contribute significantly to the growth of Corporate Cleaning, foster job creation, and make a meaningful impact in the local community.
As Marco, a Mechanical Engineer in Colombia, thrived in his role as a Managing Partner, his journey underscored how navigating the intricacies of U.S. immigration laws could unfurl doors for foreign entrepreneurs. His success narrative stands as a beacon, illustrating that with determination, strategic acumen, and compliance with immigration regulations, individuals like Marco can turn their franchising aspirations into a reality on American soil.
In the vibrant mosaic of our franchise chronicle, Marco's Visa E2 journey is a testament to the boundless opportunities franchising offers, transcending borders, and fostering global collaboration. It's a testament that strategic decisions not only sculpt success but also lay the groundwork for a diverse and flourishing entrepreneurial landscape.
Now, more than ever, the spotlight is on extending our reach to the Latino market. Collaborating closely with partners and mentors like Nick Neonakis and the team at the Franchise Consulting Company, we've broadened our horizons to Latin America. The establishment of an office in Colombia signifies our commitment to providing opportunities and structuring the growth of the franchise industry in Latin America.
February: A Month of Celebration and Reflection
As we navigate the exciting terrain of franchising, it's important to acknowledge February as Black History Month—a time to celebrate the rich contributions of the Black community to American history and culture. In our journey, this month serves as a reminder that diversity and inclusivity are not just principles but essential elements in shaping a vibrant and dynamic business landscape.
